V V ROBIN

Dr Robin Vijayan is an ecologist and evolutionary biologist who studies birds in the wild to understand different aspects of biodiversity around us. He is also an associate professor at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati. Since 2000, he has worked on birds of the Shola habitat. He uses a combination of genetic, acoustic and remote sensing data to conduct his research.

Dr. NIBEDITA LENKA

Dr.Nibedita Lenka is a scientist at the National Centre for Cell Sciences(NCCS), Pune. Her group focuses on investigating the maintenance of embryonic stem cells and their differentiation using candidate-based and forward-screening approaches.

Dr. MRIDULA NAMBIAR

Dr. Mridula Nambiar is an assistant professor at the Indian Institute of Science and Educational Research, Pune. Her lab focuses on Genetic recombination and chromosomal segregation during cell division. She has worked with the model organism Schizosaccharomyces pombe to explore this beautiful life-fueling process of cell division.

Dr. KULBHUSHANSINGH SURYAVANSHI

One of the most elusive creatures to walk this planet, the snow leopard (Panthera uncia) is the object of fascination for many. And who better to tell us about their rich lives than Kulbhushanshingh Suryawanshi, from NCF, who has spent several years studying the behaviour, ecology and contributing greatly to the conservation of these mountainous cats.

Dr. JYOTHILAKSHMI VADASSERY

Dr.Jyothilakshmi Vadassery is a researcher at the National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR), New Delhi. Her lab’s central focus lies in exploring insect herbivory on plants, the chemistry that mediates their perception of herbivory, the deployment of molecular artillery in response to this attack and how herbivore-associated proteins may suppress or incite said deployment.

Dr. YASHRAJ CHAVHAN

Yashraj Chavhan is an Assistant professor at IISER TVM. He did his PhD in evolutionary biology at IISER Pune and post-doctorate at Umeå University in Sweden. His main interests lie in the origin and evolution of multicellularity, phenotypic plasticity at multiple levels of biological organization, and the fundamental problem of complex adaptation: how do asexual populations cross fitness valleys?

Dr. MUKUND THATTAI

Prof. Mukund Thattai is a computational cell biologist at NCBS Bangalore. His lab focuses on the dynamic endomembrane cell organelles in eukaryotes and the traffic of vesicles that transport cargo. He develops mathematical models and cell biological experiments to understand how local molecular interactions create a global membrane traffic network.

Dr. NAVEEN CHANDRA BISHT

Dr. Naveen Chandra Bisht, a scientist at NIPGR, works to understand the genetic and biochemical basis of glucosinolates biosynthesis and transport in Indian oilseed mustard. They work with Crispr-Cas 9 and RNAi-based approaches in their experiments.

Dr. RAVI DEVANI

Dr Ravi Devani is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Plant Sciences of Paris-Saclay. His postdoc research investigated how female flowers evolved from ancestral hermaphroditism in cucurbits. He aims to build upon this and open new avenues to help farmers cultivate these cucurbit crops.

Dr. Debasree Dutta

Dr. Debasree Dutta, from RGCB, Thiruvananthapuram studies and focuses on exploiting cues determined from developmental studies to develop disease models or to formulate better tools to detect diseases or to evaluate new biomarkers or to determine therapeutic interventions for diseases including pre-eclampsia or leukemia or breast cancer.

Dr. SUNETRA GUPTA

Sunetra Gupta is an Indian-born British infectious disease epidemiologist and a professor of theoretical epidemiology at the Department of Zoology, University of Oxford. She has performed research on the transmission dynamics of various infectious diseases, including malaria, influenza and COVID-19, and has received the Scientific Medal of the Zoological Society of London and the Rosalind Franklin Award of the Royal Society. She is a member of the scientific advisory board of Collateral Global, an organisation which examines the global impact of COVID-19 restrictions.
